Dan Miles

Managing Director & Co-Chief Investment Officer

Dan co-founded the business in 2010 and currently serves as the Managing Director and Co-Chief Investment Officer, whereby he is responsible for overall portfolio management of Innova’s managed account portfolios. He also oversees the design and refinement of the company’s quantitative modelling processes based on Innova’s unique approach to managing investment risk. Dan is a Responsible Manager for Innova Investment Management (AFSL 509578)

Dan is an active contributor to media discussions on issues affecting the investment and advice industries and has co-written a number of research reports on portfolio construction and risk management including in partnership with global actuarial firm, Milliman.

Dan holds a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, where he was awarded the university prize for Risk and Portfolio Construction. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) with Merit and a Bachelor of Science, both from the University of NSW.

Dinyar Irani

Chairman & Co-Chief Investment Officer

Dinyar co-founded the business in 2010 and currently currently serves as Chairman & Co-Chief Investment Officer, whereby he specialises in domestic and international equities, domestic property and contributes to Innova’s house views of the economy and markets. Dinyar is a Responsible Manager for Innova Investment Management (AFSL 509578).

Dinyar has over twenty years of industry experience, most recently as the Head of Investment Research at RI Advice Group/ RetireInvest as well as Genesys Wealth Advisers/Associated Planners. His model portfolios were highly regarded by advice professionals and achieved long term outperformance above both the weighted market index and industry peers.

Dinyar holds a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) from the University of Technology Sydney and a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning from Deakin University.

Shane Wang

Head of Quantitative Research

Shane is the head of quantitative research with his primary focus being fund management related operations and overseeing the design and refinement of Innova’s quantitative modelling process. Shane also contributes to all research related activity, including the research of alternative risk management & investment strategies. 

Shane holds a Master of Commerce in Risk Management (Quantitative Risk) from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Software Engineering degree with Honours from the University of Auckland.

Sam Chapman

Investment Governance Analyst

Sam specialises in investment governance, ensuring consistency of Innova’s portfolios across our various portfolios and is responsible for determining the feasibility of any proposed investment solutions. He also provides qualitative and quantitative support to the investment team. 

Sam holds a Master of Applied finance from the University of Newcastle, a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle as well as a Bachelor of Business from the University of Newcastle.

Prior to joining Innova, Sam worked at a financial planning practice supporting 2 advisers.

Sophie Temperton

General Manager

Sophie is the general manager of the business and is responsible for overseeing daily operations and the implementation of of business plans and corporate strategy. 

Sophie is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance & Economics) and a Post-Graduate Diploma endorsed in Finance from the University of Otago.

Prior to joining Innova, Sophie has worked across client services, domestic and international securities trading and platform portfolio execution.

Ben Dixon

Head of Distribution 
Ben started with Innova in June 2020 and is responsible for the distribution of Innova’s funds primarily through the financial intemediary channel. 
Ben has a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology, Sydney and is also currently undertaking a Masters of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University.
Ben has experience in distribution across wealth management, as well as technology and data solutions within financial services. His most recent roles include working for the Rainmaker Group, as well as BT Financial Group.


Innova has appointed two independent investment committee members to provide regular oversight and governance across the portfolio construction framework. In addition, there two internal members from the Innova team who also make up the investment committee – Dan Miles & Dinyar Irani

Michael Furey

Investment Chair, Independent Investment Commitee Member
Michael Furey is the principal of Delta Research & Advisory and a leader in the field of applying advanced quantitative methods to investment analysis. Michael consults with and chairs numerous investment committees across the industry, is a regular presenter at investment conferences, and is the creator of Delta Factors, a risk-factor-based managed fund analytics system. Michael has worked in financial services since 1999; is the former Head of Research at Suncorp and was also a financial adviser until 2008. He holds a Masters in Applied Finance, Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning, Bachelor of Mathematics (w Statistics), is a CFP®, Level 1 and 2 Accredited Derivatives Adviser, Senior Fellow of Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a member of the American Finance Association.

David Lunn

Independent Investment Commitee Member
David has been a Financial Adviser since 2000. He has a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and he is SMSF specialist accredited by SPAA. David also has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with Honours and an MBA (sub Finance) from University of Technology Sydney. He is also co-chair of a non-aligned specialist adviser study group. David’s background in engineering and finance combined with a detailed understanding of macroeconomic and geopolitical issues, provides insights and experience in portfolio construction and investment markets.
