Dan Miles

Managing Director & Co-Chief Investment Officer
Dan has led Innova since 2010 and is responsible for overall portfolio management of many of Innova’s managed account portfolios. He also oversees the design and refinement of the company’s quantitative modelling processes based on Innova’s unique approach to managing investment risk. Dan is a Responsible Manager for Innova Portfolio Management and Fortnum Private Wealth. Before being appointed to his current role, Dan was Chief Operating Officer at Fortnum Financial Advisers and, prior to that, held investment research positions with RI Advice Group and Genesys Wealth Advisers.

Dan is an active contributor to media discussions on issues affecting the investment and advice industries and has co-written a number of research reports on portfolio construction and risk management including in partnership with global actuarial firm, Milliman.

Dan holds a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, where he was awarded the university prize for Risk and Portfolio Construction. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) with Merit and a Bachelor of Science, both from the University of NSW.

Dinyar Irani

Chairman & Co-Chief Investment Officer
Dinyar specialises in domestic and international equities, domestic property and contributes to Innova’s house views of the economy and markets. Dinyar is a Responsible Manager for Innova Asset Management and Fortnum Private Wealth.

Dinyar has almost twenty years of industry experience, most recently as the Head of Investment Research at RI Advice Group/ RetireInvest (now a division of ANZ Bank) and Genesys Wealth Advisers/Associated Planners (now a division of AMP). His model portfolios were highly regarded by advice professionals and achieved long term outperformance above both the weighted market index and industry peers.

Dinyar holds a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) from the University of Technology Sydney and a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning from Deakin University.

Shane Wang

Head of Quantitative Research
Shane joined Innova in mid-2013 and focuses on fund management related operations and researching alternative risk management/ investment strategies.

In 2014, Shane commenced research for his PhD in Phylogenetics Risk Management, specialising in understanding the characteristics of evolving financial risks.

He holds a Master of Commerce in Risk Management (Quantitative Risk) from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Software Engineering degree with Honours from the University of Auckland.

Young Yang

Quantitative Research Analyst
Young is a Quantitative Research Analyst within Innova, having joined the team in 2016.

Young holds a Graduate Certificate of Mathematics from the University of Technology Sydney, a Master of Finance from the University of Technology Sydney as well as a Bachelor of Science also from the University of Technology Sydney.

Previously Young spent 9 years as a data analyst in various roles, working with big data and analyzing complex data-sets.

Sophie Temperton

General Manager
Sophie commenced working with Innova in late 2013 and is responsible for implementing and managing the organisational strategy whilst ensuring operational and execution excellence across our Managed Accounts.

Sophie is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance & Economics) and a Post-Graduate Diploma endorsed in Finance from the University of Otago.

Prior to joining Innova, Sophie has worked across client services, domestic and international securities trading and platform portfolio execution.

Doug Hope

Head of Distribution
Doug joined Innova in November 2016 and is responsible for growing distribution through the Dealer/Licensee, Private Label and Financial Adviser/Intermediary channels.

He has extensive experience in business development and account management. Before Innova, Doug was a senior manager at Macquarie Bank, where he spent eight years leading sales teams in the Banking and Financial Services division, working across both retail and intermediary distribution channels.

Prior to Macquarie Bank, Doug worked as a Manager at one of Australia’s largest independent financial planning practices, focusing on high net worth clients.

Doug holds a Bachelor of Business from University of Technology, Sydney and a Diploma of Financial Planning.

Sam Chapman

Portfolio Administrator
Sam became a member of the Innova team in December 2017.

Sam holds a Master of Applied finance from the University of Newcastle, a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle as well as a Bachelor of Business from the University of Newcastle.

Prior to joining Innova, Sam worked at a financial planning practice supporting 2 advisers.

Cameron Askarian

IT Administrator
Cameron is currently in his final semester completing a Bachelor of Commerce (Business Information Systems & Business Law) at The University of Sydney.

He joined Innova in January 2017 as an IT Administrator and previously worked at Advanced Building Approvals carrying out business process modelling and improvement.

He also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from The University of Technology Sydney.


Innova has appointed three independent investment committee members to provide regular oversight and governance across the portfolio construction framework. In addition, there two internal members from the Innova team who also make up the investment committee – Dan Miles & Dinyar Irani

Michael Furey

Investment Chair, Independent Investment Commitee Member
Michael Furey is the principal of Delta Research & Advisory and a leader in the field of applying advanced quantitative methods to investment analysis. Michael consults with and chairs numerous investment committees across the industry, is a regular presenter at investment conferences, and is the creator of Delta Factors, a risk-factor-based managed fund analytics system. Michael has worked in financial services since 1999; is the former Head of Research at Suncorp and was also a financial adviser until 2008. He holds a Masters in Applied Finance, Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning, Bachelor of Mathematics (w Statistics), is a CFP®, Level 1 and 2 Accredited Derivatives Adviser, Senior Fellow of Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a member of the American Finance Association.

John Parrish

Independent Investment Commitee Member
John has comprised 40 years in a range of senior roles in the investment/financial services areas. These include head of the National Australia Bank investment management area, head of the Melbourne office of a major international stock broker and founder and principal of an institutional asset consultant where he advised superannuation funds and financial planning groups on investment issues. Other activities include Chair of the ASFA Investment Study groups of Victoria and NSW for 6 years and Chair of the Investment Committee of a listed financial planning group for 8 years.

This breadth of senior roles in the financial services industry has given John an insight and involvement in a wide range of issues concerning all aspects of investment management over many years.

David Lunn

Independent Investment Commitee Member
David has been a Financial Adviser since 2000. He has a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and he is SMSF specialist accredited by SPAA. David also has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with Honours and an MBA (sub Finance) from University of Technology Sydney. He is also co-chair of a non-aligned specialist adviser study group. David’s background in engineering and finance combined with a detailed understanding of macroeconomic and geopolitical issues, provides insights and experience in portfolio construction and investment markets.

John has worked in the accounting and financial services industries for over 15 years with more than a decade either managing or running the teams he has worked in. He has recently overseen the successful merger of 2 growing financial planning practices which are positioning themselves as leaders in new age advice.

He completed the Chartered Financial Analyst program in 2006, oversaw the APL and construction of portfolios for a self-licensee financial planning firm and is a Certified Financial Planner.

Neil Younger

Non-Executive Director
Neil is the managing director of Fortnum Financial Group.

Neil has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years, building up a successful career in Wealth Management. He held senior executive roles at ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, BT Financial Group, and now Fortnum. Prior to joining Fortnum, Neil was the Managing Director of Advice and Open Market channels at ANZ Wealth. He undertook various roles at ANZ including Head of Aligned Dealer Groups as well as being responsible for the business’s financial planning.
